Latest from the craft room

I stitched this one out over the last couple of days
it is from my Jane Austen embroidery pattern I have been working on
it has sections of applique that you can chose to add
I have used applique on just the bodice on this example you can even fabric paint sections
let your imagination go wild!
as you can probably see i am not the greatest hand embroider with just a few stitched under my belt but it was really relaxing stitching this one out,
I even sat in the garden for a while yesterday happily stitching away to the sound of bird song
It is May bank holiday here in the UK & the weather is looking good so I am off to enjoy a little gardening now
Have a great weekend

Busy Bee

I have been as busy as a bee and i loved every moment
Back in the sewing room after a long hard few months of  lambing
I have missed my sewing so much
I made two quilts this week! yes 2 you did read it correctly but they are small ones

I made this orange & brown on first out of a Moda scrap bag
I am quilt new to quilting so keep it simple

Then I was reading my lovely friend Terry s blog and was inspired by her Blue & white quilt
Made from nine block patches.
I was always nervous of trying something like this but after looking at Terry s quilt in two colors it sort of hit me how it was put together so with a little advice from Terry I went fabric shopping for two colors of fabric to use in the quilt,

Well as you can see I was seduced by the array of fabrics on offer & chose
Moda Paris flea market  for the patterned fabric & a cream sort of paisley shadow pattern for the rest of the squares & the back

I also loved the way the quilt took on that loved look after it was laundered so saddled with a color catcher sachet & a little washing powder I nervously pushed my quilt into the washer
and washed it
here it is drying in the sun yes the sun it is a rare site but the day has been wonderful!
Thank you terry you are now my quilting Angel
you inspire me every time I look at your blog

and I forgot to mention my youngest son was 16 yesterday
My sweet baby boy where did the years go
Happy Birthday
Here he is with big sis age 3

Cute fabric coasters

I did a little bit of sewing this weekend
I made some cute coasters here are two of them below
I used pretty Moda French General Pom Pom de Paris squares they are 4"x4" & just perfect for making coasters
You will need 2 x squares of fabric & one piece of quilt batting the same size
Sandwich them together & pin with batting in middle
and good side of fabric facing outwards
"for an extra bit of stiffness include a layer of interfacing next to the batting"
Sew around outside of all four sides to hold all layers in place
Free motion embroider through all three pieces to quilt them together
and use ether bias binding or make your own binding tape to finish off around the outside.

And you will have some cute washable coasters

English Tea Party Banner will be in my store soon
printed on white 250gsm linen embossed card each card measures 4 x 6"

New Look site

Hello all
It has been a while I have been so tired due to the lambing & not feeling too well the whole family & myself have had a really bad bout of something flue like over the last couple of weeks,
It could not have come at a worse time right in the middle of lambing time & to put the top hat on it all we had the worst snow in years & a tractor that decided its clutch was extinct and we had to wait over a week for the repair  as the poor garage staff had also succumbed to the dreaded flue bug!
I felt really bad about that as I think hubby had given it to them!
I have got a new Look to our website Here for any one interested it is still in its early days & has a blog section built in

I wont pretend I know what I am doing as it is a WP driven site & a first for me but I am learning as I go and any tips welcome!
~o~

I will be posting a few free digital collage sheets on the blog & site each week
Ending this post on a happy note
its goodbye from him & its goodbye from me
until next time

I just had to add this
Our swallows are back today!
this is always a sign of warmer weather
yippee
